CCTV Camera Solutions: Surat’s New CCTV Network

Terrorism knows no boundaries and in recent times, with the increased threats of terror, it becomes all the more essential to take these threats seriously and look for ways in which to protect people. In view of this, Gujarat has set a precedent for the whole of India with its new closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, also known as the “Safe City Surat” project. On Thursday, July 18, 2013, Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of this new project that is all set to gain momentum.

Setting A Model For India

With violence in cities at its all time peak and crime rates soaring, the new CCTV surveillance project at Surat will certainly go a long way in helping residents feel safe and be safe. This project is India’s first project based on the Public Private Partnership model and is all set to prove to be a model for the rest of India in taking effective measures in crime ridden cities.

With 5000 cameras set to be located in 500 locations covering a 200 kilometre radius of the city, virtually every nook and corner will be under constant surveillance. The people of Surat are quite enthusiastic about this project as they now feel will make their city much safer to live in. The local civic authority, too, will be more than happy as rooting out crime and targeting criminals is made much easier with this new system.

In a world of uncertainty and insecurity, Narendra Modi now has a fresh reason to be proud of Gujarat. Setting standards of the first of its kind in CCTV surveillance, Surat is all set to be a model for the rest of India to follow.
