CCTV Camera Solutions: A beginners’ guide for CCTV through internet

Closed Circuit Television systems (CCTVs) can be connected to the internet for monitoring the safety of both your home and workplace from a distant location. By following the instructions given below the CCTV can be connected to the Internet effectively.
  • Plug one end of the CAT5 cable to the back of the DVR and the other end to the router for enabling your DVR to be Internet enabled.
  • The power of the DVR is to be reset and follow the configuration guidance on screen if any, which may be essential for the DVR to identify the web link.
  • Open your browser and type http://192.168.1.1 in your address bar. Then enter the administrative credentials of your router for entering the administrative console of the same.
  • To trace the port that is used for the outbound traffic of the internet, which may vary for each DVR. You need to refer to the instruction manual of the DVR. (80 is the default port)
  • Steer to the ‘Ports’ segment of the administrative console of your router for ensuring the opening of the particular port for your DVR. If not so, it can be entered manually, saved and then opened as a port.
  • Then go to the ‘devices’ section for knowing the number of devices that are presently linked to your router coupled with their corresponding IP addresses.
  • Verify your router’s external IP address by utilizing the network utilities.
  • Try to reach your external IP using the DVR port added to the IP address, from a different location beyond the network of your router.
You will be successfully connected to the network of your DVR, enabling you to observe the feeds of CCTV, provided it is configured properly.
