CCTV Camera Solutions: “Safe City Surat” – A New Model For India

The recent waves of terror that have swept through different Indian cities have led to the Gujarat Chief Minister taking the first step in keeping the city of Surat safe. On Thursday, July 18, 2013, the city of Surat saw the inauguration of the city’s new closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras. While this project is still in its first phase, subsequent roll-outs are scheduled to cover 500 locations with 5000 cameras in a 200 kilometer radius.

Benefits Of The New Model

This new initiative in Gujarat will have quite a lot of positive benefits on putting an end to crime and violence to a great extent, and will also help in better tracking of criminals who evade the justice system. A number of private stakeholders joined hand with the government to come up with this project, and it is surely going to be a new model for other cities, especially high crime ones, to follow.

The local civic authority will be more than pleased when they find the extent to which their work has been reduced and made more efficient. The people of Surat, too, are quite enthusiastic about this new project, which they feel will make them feel safer in living in this city.

The city of Surat has made headlines for a number of reasons, and this added reason of the new CCTV surveillance cameras has added to its existing accolades. The first in much advancement, Surat is now also the first to set a pattern for a new venture in reducing crime and keeping residents safe. As additional phases are rolled out, it is sure that this model of CCTV surveillance will prove to be a boon to everyone, except law-breakers.
